Age gaps Between Your Children

age gapsWhat age gaps do you have between your children? What are the pros and cons of that gap from your experience?

  • I have 18, 17, 16, 13, 11, 9, 2 and .5. I love having a big family and i’m so lucky i am blessed to be able to have this many babies…although i have buried one son i still feel very lucky. Kelly
  • I have a 6 year old, hating the age gap of the next baby (been ttc for 3 years). JoJo
  • I have a 2.5 year gap between both my kid. They are 4 year old boy and almost 2 year old girl and they are the best if friends, well most of the time. Jodie
  • I have a 13 year old , 2.5 year old, 15 month old and 31 wks pregnant (all boys). The age gap between the 13 year and 2 year old I find is difficult. The older one hates being annoyed and the fighting is constant. Sometimes it’s ok but only when it suits the teenagers mood! The gap between the 2 and 1 yr old is fabulous. I’m so glad we fell pregnant straight away. They play really well together . Yes they fight and wrestle but to be expected. Hopefully the next bub just fits right in….:) Amy
  • ‎2 years and I love it. Jessica
  • My two boys are 19months apart. My oldest is 22 months, my youngest is 15 weeks old- meaning,I have two babies in nappies, and they still need ALOT of mummy time each. My oldest plays very well with my youngest and understands sometimes mummy just can’t be there for him if I’m busy with the baby. He’s very loving towards his brother, and he lights up when my youngest learns a new skill, like grabbing, laughing and babbling. You can tell my youngest will idolise my eldest, his eyes follow him around the room all the time, and he thinks everything he does is hilarious! I think in the long run it will be great as they will be able to be best friends, it’s just a little hard right now, my days are very full on! Cindy
  • ‎17, 16 & 1 yr old. 17 months between the eldest was great they have grown up together. The teenage boys adore their sister and happily take care of her while I work. Carol
  • I have a 15 month old girl and hoping to be pregs soon. My bro n i have 22 months between us and it was fantastic growing up. Only hope my kids can say the same. 😀 Rebekah
  • ‎2 and a half years between my two (4 and almost 2), and they love each other 99% of the time! When my son was born my daughter was old enough to understand that the baby needed attention and she was very patient. Tamra
  • I have a 3 year, 10 month and a 10week old They get along great. 3 year is a good helper. Amy
  • ‎19.5 months between my two and love it. Somedays wish I had gone for a smaller age gap. We didn’t want anything above a 24 month age gap. My kiddies are currently 2 and 6.5 months and they adore one another 🙂 Shana
  • We have a 19, 17, 14, 12, 4 x 10 and a 2. In that mix includes triplets and step siblings. The 2 year old is spoilt from them all. They have the occasional fight. But the age gap has never been a problem. Tonilee
  • ‎26,23,21,19,17, 11 3, 2. The average between mine is 1 to 2.5 years, close is good, 6 year gap was they were at school and then left home has its ups and down she was and is spoilt by her older siblings two little one at the end 13 months gap they have ended up like twins . Josie
  • It will be 2 years and 3 months difference. Perfect 🙂 Kelly
  • I have a 7 year old and 10 month old. I was only 19 having my first and planned on uni, so having more children wasn’t on the cards for a few years. Called it quits after 3 years and now have a baby daughter with my new partner of 3 years – his two boys are 6, 10. Having a baby sister has taught the 3 boys about responsibility and they just adore her. Cons would be she’ll feel left out sometimes when older and they’re off doing “big boy stuff”. But pro’s definitely outweigh the cons. Sharellalee
  • ‎9 year gap between #1 and #2 and there will be 2 years, 2 months between #2 and #3. Allison
  • I have 19 months apart on my babies (22 mo and a 11 week). I love having them close together, but yes its trying somtimes. It helps that i have great friends and family. I would not change it for anything. My oldest loves her brother and loves helping. Chantelle
  • I have a 3.5 year old boy and 18mmonth girl, exactly 2 years and 21 days between them. I love that they are close but its hard at times when i tell them ‘no’ and they are both having a tantrum. Tash
  • My kids are 5, 2 (next Friday) and 5 months (girl, boy, girl). 3 years, 5 months between my first and second. And 19m months between my second and third. And i love it that my kids will grow up close and loving. Although while they are young it could be stressful lol. Sandy
  • My little sister and I are 6 years apart and we are very close. My older sister is 2 years older & we aren’t as close. We adored our little sister and would play with her all day & help mum look after her. Mum said she’d hardly see us! If I was younger I’d have a bigger gap but need to get a move on (tick tock!) so will probably go for 2ish years. Lisa
  • Mine will be 3 years + 3 days! First turns 3 tomorrow and having second bubba on Tuesday!! I think it will be a nice age gap! Emma
  • My sister and I are almost 3 years apart and played pretty well despite some fights!!  I have a 15 month old and would love a 2nd once he is out of nappies and old enough to understand if I was pregnant again. I want to be able to enjoy my time alone with him for a while first. Although my husband isn’t convinced of having a second! Brooke
  • I have a little boy who has just turned 3 this month and a little girl who will turn 3 in May. There’s just under 9 months between them, it’s amazing I love it they’re so close but also fight like mad. I love that they’re going to grow up together, they always sleep in the same bed, it’s lush to hear them laughing and giggling together they are in nursery together, that changes in Sept tho. I’ve loved every minute of it and definitely wouldn’t change it. I would like another now have done 4 over a year, my partner doesn’t want anymore tho so I’m happy with her decision but if I could I would. If anyone asked me I’d say close in age all the way! 🙂 Robbie
  • A 3 year gap, so the eldest is out of nappies, walking, talking, is best. Tarah
  • There is 14 months between 1 and 2 and 13 months between 2 and 3. I love that my kids are so close together. They are so close and do everything together. Melissa
  • My eldest is 10 years then 5 years and 1 year. Girl, girl, boy. The girls fight a lot but they both adore the little brother hoping to have another soon. Court
  • I have a 2 yr old DD and a 11 week old son and perfect. Sara
  • I have a 26 month old and 10 month old, both girls and I love the age gap. They get along well there’s been no jealousy and they play together all day long. They are always giggling about something. It hasn’t been too hard as from the start I got them napping at same time, eat lunch together, bathe together. I love the age gap 🙂 If we decide on a 3rd it won’t be for at least 2 more years though. Jessica
  • My kids are 7 yrs 9 months and 2 yrs 1 month. So 5 years, 8 months between them. I find it pretty good, especially as my eldest was in kindergarten when his bro was born and I concentrate on my youngest. They get along great n my 2 year old loves his big bro. They don’t fight but my eldest does get over playing with his brother after a while. Kylie
  • ‎15 months between my 2, it’s great how well they get along! I toilet trained my daughter at 19 months to make things easier! Now my youngest is nearly 1….am still deciding if we go for number 3. Amber
  • I have almost 4 year gap and LOVE it! My DD just adores her little brother and does everything she can to help me. She’s such a little mummy to him! It’s gorgeous to watch and my lil man just loves his big sister. Gonna struggle when she starts school next term tho – he’ll be lost without her, as i will be! Alissa
  • We have a 5 year gap. 5 year old DD and a 4 week old DD. Miss 5 is playing up a bit because she’s only ever had us to herself but she absolutely loves her sister and loves helping. I’m sure it will get better with time 🙂 Sheree

  • We have a gap of 4 and a quarter years between our girls. My baby is 7 weeks old. So far the gap is fantastic. Danielle
  • I have a 3 year, 2 month gap between my 3 year old and 5 month old baby. Big brother loves his little sister to pieces, he’s sick at the moment with a nasty cold and can’t understand why he can’t be too close poor little fella. Narelle
