NSW Health has today revealed a first glimpse of what new mums will receive from the State Government from January 1, 2019 with the NSW Baby Bundle.
The NSW State Government announced after that as mums expecting baby’s in NSW in 2019 would be gifted with a practical bag of goodies to help welcome their new child into the world. Today NSW Health has shared an image of the contents of the Baby Bundle.
Here’s what new mums can expect in their Baby Bundle.
- A water proof nappy bag
- A bath thermometer
- Nappy wipes
A clock/room thermometer
- A face washer
- A muslin wrap
- A first aid kit
- A portable change mat
- Australian early literacy books
- A kick mat
- Hand sanitiser
- Rash cream
The comments on the post shared today have had mixed reactions from the public. Some are excited and grateful to be receiving the government funded gift, whilst others are commenting that they would like to see the money go into more hands on support such as more home visits from midwives or more lactation support.
The Baby Bundle is worth $150 and all newborn babies will qualify for the initiative.
The gift is only a portion of the overall Baby Bundle Scheme that was announced in the state budget with 100 new midwives being employed, more post natal home visits from midwives, funding for sleep clinic Tresillian and medical transport for high risk patients being just a few other areas included int he overall scheme. Parents with a newborn in NSW will receive their gift when they are discharged from hospital.
