Review of the Mary + Marie Baby Bag “Erin Brockovich” (Steel Grey)

Design:

The “Erin Brockovich” Mary + Marie Baby Bag is a beautiful, on-trend handbag made from Italian leather (so it feels amazing!). It is quite pliable for leather, in a large rectangular shape, making it easy to pack and fit all the things you need for you and baby. It is also styled with suede trimmings to add an extra touch of elegance to the design. This bag will definitely last you many years and beyond the baby “nappy” years, so would serve best as an all-round baby/handbag.

While it looks like a regular handbag, the “Erin Brockovich” is full of surprises, with many pockets and compartments to hide your valuables and baby products away from tiny fingers. This nappy bag includes 2 exterior and 2 interior side pockets, shaped perfectly for baby bottles (or perhaps your own water bottle!). It also has an external front and back zipped pocket to keep your phone and wallet separate from the rest of bub’s belongings. On the inside of this baby bag, there is a key clip to save you scrounging around for your keys amongst nappies – always a winner! There is also a clear plastic sleeve that you can store valuables such as your wallet, or even a device, to protect it from bottles and wipes.

Practicality:

The Mary + Marie Baby Bag “Erin Brockovich” has been designed to be worn two ways – as a hand bag or as a shoulder (messenger) bag. The handbag straps are permanently attached to the bag, but can be adjusted longer or shorter depending on how you like to style your handbags. The shoulder strap comes separate and can be attached by the clips on the ends of the strap and bag. Without the addition of stroller straps, this bag cannot be carried across the handle of your pram (But as authentic Italian leather, you wouldn’t want to be doing that anyway!). Considering it is also quite a large bag (and unless you have a big space under your pram), it is more likely that you will be carrying this bag around on your outings.

With its large shape and size, the “Erin Brockovich” can fit a reasonable amount of contents within it. It has definitely passed my “pack everything including the kitchen sink” test, including my son’s lunchbox and food bottle, amongst everything else. While I prefer my bags to have a couple more compartments to have it more organised, it definitely fits everything I need it to – and looks gorgeous in doing so!

Value:

The Mary + Marie “Erin Brockovich” bag is another nappy bag on the expensive end of the spectrum – but as it is made from Italian leather, I wouldn’t expect anything less (it is at leasrt $100 cheaper than other bags of a similar material). While my personal preference is for a nappy bag that I can use as a handbag, I have found this bag to be a bit more handbag than nappy bag. However, while I won’t be using it as my day-to-day nappy bag, I will be using it as my work handbag (as it really is gorgeous and works for beyond the baby years) as well as a “special occasion” nappy bag (for big events where I need my son’s belongings and extra nappies). So if you are a stylish mumma who likes to look gorgeous when you go out, the Mary + Marie “Erin Brockovich” is the nappy bag for you!

Stand Out Features:

  • Made from Italian Leather in a gorgeous Steel colour and with suede trimmings – by far one of the most stylish bags out of the lot!
  • Many pockets (particularly on the exterior) for hiding your belongings and valuables.
  • Interior can be completely removed to handwash and keep clean.
  • The nappy bag comes with a key clip to keep track of your keys, as well as a clear plastic compartment/pouch for valuables.
  • Large and spacious to fit all your belongings (you and bubs!).
  • Will last you beyond your “baby” years and makes an on-trend handbag as well.

Considerations:

  • Cost – depending on your budget it might be out of your price range (however if you consider yourself a stylish mumma who can afford this nappy bag, it is perfect!).
  • The exterior is to be cleaned professionally as it is made from Italian leather.
  • While it fits a lot, you may need to consider how you organise the contents (I like to have lots of compartments/pockets for my nappy bags!). This, of course, is a matter of personal preference.
  • It can’t be attached to the pram, so on outings you’ll most likely be carrying it around the whole time.
