<\/p>\nWell, as a born and bread Adeladian, this list was hard to narrow down to what I believe to be Adelaide’s TOP 5 playgrounds in our beautiful city. I\u2019ve put a lot of thought into it and have considered various ages of children, quality of the play equipment, location of the playground, facilities and overall appeal.<\/p>\n
So whether you\u2019re a local or just visiting\u2013 parks and playgrounds are always a good place to take the kids!<\/p>\n
Morialta is Adelaide\u2019s newest nature playground and it is spectacular! Spread across five separate play areas and providing many opportunities for calculated risk taking \u2013 (just like good old fashioned tree climbing \u2013 but in a playground). There is a giant slide which starts high in the eagle\u2019s nest, a snake tunnel, swings and climbing towers. Our favourite part was exploring the nearby creek and looking for tadpoles, hopping on stepping stones and discovering tents made from sticks. Be aware this new playground is extremely busy and parking can be difficult (but it\u2019s totally worth it!). There are BBQs, tables, seating and toilets. Pack a change of clothes for your visit, and enjoy getting close to nature! This playground is ideal for older kids \u2013 5 and above; there\u2019s not a lot for toddlers and little ones to do safely.<\/p>\n

Civic Park has also recently undergone an impressive redevelopment earning it a place in my top 5! There are two distinct playground areas, one for older kids and one for younger (mine both tend to play on the younger kids one). The other thing I love about this playground is that there are plenty of swings so kids don\u2019t have to wait too long for their turn! There\u2019s a huge sand pit underneath a climbing frame, things to spin on, musical elements and plenty of lush green grass to run around on. A short walk up the hill is the Tea Tree Gully Library (including Toy Library and Caf\u00e9) \u2013 and across the road is Westfield Tea Tree Plaza. This one really is a one-stop shop (well, park)! Toilets, BBQs and seating also gets a tick from me.<\/p>\n

I would probably say that St Kilda is Adelaide\u2019s best \u2018adventure\u2019 playground. It is huge \u2013 let me tell you. It\u2019s probably a 45 minute drive north from the city and well worth a day trip out there to see it. Some of the most exciting play equipment to explore includes the castle tower with super slides, wooden fort an old wooden ship overlooking the water and a volcano wave slide starting at the top of a hill. For younger ones and toddlers they\u2019ll enjoy exploring the \u201cYellow Submarine\u201d playground. Your kids will be exhausted after a day of play here! One word of advice is on a warm day, pack a towel or something to sit on as the metal slides can get hot. There is so much space at St Kilda, and even when it\u2019s busy on weekends there is still room to move and places to sit and eat or watch the kid\u2019s play.<\/p>\n
Situated proudly on South Terrace on the edge of the CBD is the stunning Princess Elizabeth Playground. Usually my kids are drawn immediately to the in-ground trampolines, shortly after heading off to climb and explore. There\u2019s a sand area, tall castle like structure with a curly slide, a large climbing net, spinning see-saw, bowl swing, and lots of natural elements such as logs for sitting on and rocks for balancing. As above \u2013 this playground also has all of the amenities that you\u2019ll need while you\u2019re visiting, and it\u2019s adjacent to a large sporting oval. Keep in mind that the road side of the playground is fenced but it doesn\u2019t go all the way around. 10\/10 for this one!!<\/p>\n

Bonython Park, City<\/u><\/h2>\nThe final playground that I had to include is within Bonython Park. It\u2019s right near a kiosk (because COFFEE) and has many fun playground elements that kid\u2019s love. My daughter is always keen for a flying fox and spider web climbing nets at any playground she visits and this one does not disappoint. I\u2019m always impressed to see playgrounds which have sand and water play opportunities which encourages kids to get a bit messy and engage their senses (as long as you bring a change of clothes!). The other unique feature of this playground is the hamster wheel which kids can negotiate their balance and coordination as they run while the wheel moves round and around! Once again any playground I\u2019ve included has to have toilets, seating etc (no one with a toilet training toddler wants to visit a playground without them!).<\/p>\n
