A delicious recipe best eaten straight from the oven, Kids and parents will be lining up for more more. Leave the glaze off a few to make them suitable for younger children.
Ingredients:
250ml warm milk (warm in the microwave)
3 1/2 Cups Bakers flour
2 tspn Salt
70 g Butter, melted
1/4 Cup Caster Sugar
1 egg
2 Sachets of Dry Yeast
1 1/2 Tspn Ground Cinnamon
1 1/2 tspn Ground Nutmeg
1 Cup sultanans
Piping Mixture
1/2 Cup Plain Flour
pinch Salt
1 tspn light Olive Oil
100ml Water
Glaze:
2 Tbspn Water
2 Tbspn Sugar
Method:
Place all ingredients (EXCEPT sultanas) in the bowl of an electric mixer. Attach a dough hook and place on low speed for 2 minutes or until combined. Mix on a medium speed for 5 minutes until the dough if smooth and elastic. Add sultanas and put on a low speed until combined.
Remove the hook and cover the bowl with cling wrap and leave in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 1/2 hours).
Roll small balls of dough and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper with a small gap between each bun.
Make the piping mixture by combining the ingredients to form a smooth mix. Put in a piping bag and pipe crosses on the buns.
Heat oven to 220oC. Allow buns to rise for another 10 minutes, then place in over for 10-15 minutes until golden.
Make glaze by heating the water and sugar mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Brush with glaze while still warm.
