{RECIPE} Red lentil, Pumpkin, Pea & Broccoli Dhal

lentil baby food

by One Handed Cooks

Baby food needn’t be boring, and the addition of herbs and spices is the perfect way to add new flavours to your baby’s developing palate. This dish also has the benefits of red lentils, a legume which is high in fibre, protein and carbohydrates and low in salt.

Ingredients
1 cup water
200g pumpkin, chopped
1/4 cup red lentils
A pinch of turmeric (optional)
1/2 cup broccoli, florets chopped
2 tbsp frozen peas

Method

Step 1: Combine the pumpkin and red lentils into a small saucepan, add the water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, add the broccoli and peas and simmer for a further 5 minutes until the pumpkin and broccoli are soft.

Step 2: Fork mash (or puree) and serve.
