Party planning can be daunting, which is why so many people opt for hosting their child’s party at a playland or a party venue that comes fully decorated, catered and cleaned up for. However, hosting a themed birthday party at home doesn’t have to be stressful or costly.
Sydney Mum of two, Guadaira Cuellar, 26, planned and DIYed a dinosaur themed birthday party for her son XZavier and the results were totally Instragram-worthy!
Using some coloured streamers and balloons as well as letter ballons spelling ‘Roar’ as a backdrop, she was able to transform simple snacks into a prehistoric grazing table!
Guadaira printed some illustrations of dinosaurs and stuck them to toothpicks to add some fun to the smaller details on the table.
But it didn’t end there, she placed some toy dinosaurs strategically around the table to look like they too were picking at the fruit and snacks.
Placing the grazing food on some faux leaves gives the theme a bit more of a realistic effect and looks great.
Small details such as cutting dinosaur footprints out of coloured scrap paper add a small touch but make a great impact.
This stunning chocolate drip cake was made by Guadaira’s sister-in-law can easily be re-created using a Coles drip cake and adding a toy dinosaur as a cake topper.
These adorable DIY biscuits can be made using dinosaur cookie cutters. The icing can also be a fun way of including your children in the planning process. Remember, they don’t have to look perfect, the stranger they look, the cuter!
The truth is, we all want a Pinterest or Instagram-worthy party, but as long as your kids have an amazing time that’s all that matters. But that doesn’t mean creating a picture perfect party isn’t achievable, as Guadaira has proven!
