Creating your own magical snow globe is surprisingly cheap and easy. Shake the jar and watch the glitter swirl around like a snow storm. It’s a great homemade Christmas gift and can be made by kids of any age, with a little help. We chose a wizard figurine but you could use anything else which captures your imagination.
Homemade Snow Globes
YOU WILL NEED:
Jar with lid
Plastic figurine (to fit jar)
Glitter
Glycerin (from the supermarket)
Super glue
Cooled boiled water
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Step 1: Superglue the plastic figurine to the inside of the jar lid. An adult should do this step. For safety, keep the superglue tube well away from the kids!
Step 2: Add a tablespoon of glitter to the jar.
Step 3: Add 2-3 tablespoons of glycerin to the jar. This thickens the water and holds the glitter in suspension.
Step 4: Fill the jar to the top with cooled boiled water.
Step 5: Screw the lid with figurine on to the jar.
Note: If the snow globe is for smaller children, you may want to add some tape around the lid of the jar so that it can’t be removed.
