Hitting up the Gold Coast theme parks? Not sure which one is best suited to your tribe? Here’s what’s happening at Movieworld and all the details you need to know.
Live shows
There are plenty of live shows to see at Movieworld, bringing the excitement of the big screen to life. For an action packed experience, catch the car stunt driving show in the main arena. Or if you hang around Main Street, there are lots of live performances from rockabilly dancing to an exciting Batman and Joker show at midday. Grab your lunch and find somewhere on the street to sit because the Bat Mobile is sure to drive past with the Caped Crusader clinging to the side of it.
The kids will also love character spotting all through the park with all of the most famous super heroes and villains making an appearance including Batman, Joker, Robin, Superman, The Riddler, The Penguin, Mr Freeze and Harley Quinn. You’ll also love spotting Bugs Bunny and his friends down in Kids WB land.
Shops and experiences
There’s lots of shops to pop into and check out where you can purchase everything from branded clothes and PJs to toys of your favourite characters including Tweety Bird and Sylvester. You can even find build it yourself charm bracelets and jewellery options with awesome little charms such as the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and more.
You can also get awesome professional hair extensions in bright colours or even a hair wrap done while you’re visiting Movieworld. There is also a caricature artist and lots of shops along the way that sell superhero capes for the kids for $10!
Rides
There is everything here from 4D movies to the scariest rollercoaster for the thrill seekers in the tribe. The scariest ride of them all is the DC Rivals Hyper Coaster with a sheer vertical drop at the beginning followed by lots of speedy twists, turns, dips and loops.
The Superman Escape Coaster is also a mega fast thrill ride for the speed demons who love tearing through the air. For kids who love a rollercoaster, check out the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster which is inside a haunted house.
Other rides include the Green Lantern Coaster, the Arkhan Asylum Shock Therapy Coaster and for something a little more low key, check out the Lego Movie 4D Experience in the Roxy Theatre on Main Street.
For little kids
WB Kids Land has lots to do for littler kids including lots of fun rides an attractions. There is a Looney Tunes carousel, a Road Runner roller coaster, Speedy Gonzalez Tijuana Taxi ride where kids can drive yellow cabs around a small track and Tweety Bird flying cages.
The experience the kids loved most was the Driver School where they can get in their own miniature cars and drive around a mini city on real roads. There’s even a round-a-bout and corners they can turn. You can also opt to get your drivers licence at the end for a small fee.
Food and drink
You can opt to pack your lunch and bring it to Movieworld which we did for the kids, but they sell all of the fast food options you’d expect to see in an amusement park. There is Mexican, Hot Dogs, hot chips, burgers and more on offer.
You can also find ice cream with a Ben and Jerry’s, or other sweet treats such as churros, popcorn and chips and soft drink can be found at kiosks throughout the park.
Where is it?
Warner Bros Movieworld is at Pacific Motorway, Oxenford, Queensland, approximately 30 minutes drive from Surfers Paradise. Theme parks nearby include Wet n Wild and Dreamworld.
